Workaround in case grub cannot determine the graphic properties. Blessing grub.efi (Grub2 as the only bootloader). Using Apple bootloader itself (safest option). Apple Mac EFI systems (both EFI architecture). Make the firmware launch GRUB2 (U)EFI as default. Detect (U)EFI firmware processor architecture.
